Here Comes the NZ Law Society

nz law societyThe Law Society is presently going to its membership to find out what they need and want in the days of voluntary membership.  Following the relatively harrowing establishment of the new law society structure under the Lawyers and Conveyancers Act, in particular the question of how orphaned the Auckland District Law Society might become in the New World (a very healthy orphan, actually), there is now a flexing of its representative muscle under the direction of Auckland Branch Manager and GM for Representative Services, Glenda Macdonald.  The NZLS is developing focus groups to visit the branches in order to find out exactly what they want the representative services of the NZLS to do for them.  Glenda Macdonald, who previously handled marketing and media matters for Simpson Grierson, including their splashy advertising campaign, is undoubtedly well equipped to handle the task, although she’s tight-lipped about her new assignment.  All of which tends to beg the question as to whether there’s some toe-standing going on between the ADLS and the representative branch of the NZLS.
